Ernest, who has lived in a shelter for 13 years following a car accident injury had long suffered from entropion; an inward rolling of the eyelids, which causes inflammation and hinders sight.
This illness lead him to frequent eye squinting as well as frequent discomfort. Doctors feared putting the 15 year old cat under for an eye operation but were very successful with special fitted contacts:
The lenses have given him a new lease on life as you can see below!
Looking for a fun April fool’s joke to play on your pet cat that lasts all year long? If so, “Radical Animals” has a great idea for you! Reader Matt has four cats that enjoy some of the finer things in life. He suggests that get a bird feeder (any size will do), a length of rope, a window and a cat. First you need to tie off the bird feeder somewhere so it hangs in plain sight outside of the window as seen below:
Next, just fill up the bird feeder. Then all you need to do is wait….. You’ll see that within awhile, you’ll have dozens of birds coming to check out the free food! (See sample image with birds)
Check out what happens once they attack the bird feeder:
These cats have been spoiled. They’ve seen many, many types of birds and we live in an urban part of Philadelphia. There have been sparrows, swallows, ravens, cardinals, blackbirds, robins, morning doves, pigeons and even the occasional blue jay:
MAtt’s cat Jay Jay tries to get one of the morning doves through the window:
What a cool cat toy and a great way to mess with the cats! Happy April Fool’s Day!
Just when you thought that a fence, 10 times it’s own height could lock up a tiny pup…. think again!
Kalia the Ninja Mutt does the impossible!
Seeking escape from confignment, Kalia combines a cat-like vertical leap, Navy S.E.A.L. super upper-body strength, and the keen sense to cause house-wide destruction not limited to chewing up human undergarments. My hat’s off to Kalia! Somebody get some Chihuahua-sized Chinese hand cuffs!
Thanks for the spectacular video submission VedaPanda
Well it looks like our Honda and Square Watermelon:
creating friends over in Japan have decided to use technology to create hybrid animals, likely for their amusement. I’m going to go out on a limb here, but I’m guessing that these monkeys as you can see below which GLOW at night are not going to be genetically favored for survival of the fittest. The fact that these two cuties were “born” glowing means nothing since their parents were engineered to glow… The bottom images is their glowfur at night.
A Chinese college student though that Yang Yang the Panda bear was so cute that he would scale it’s enclosure’s fence and ask it for some TLC.
Qixing Park jumped the 6.5′ fence in Guangxi Zhuang, China and decided to approach the bear for a hug. Park said “Yang Yang was so cute and I just wanted to cuddle him. I didn’t expect he would attack,”.On the plus side officials at the park say that Yang Yang did not seem to suffer any negative psychological effects.
This is one that I truly wish we had some video footage for!
Nagi Noda, who also created the odd video in our previous post has created some very cool and intricate hats that actually appear as hair in the shape of an animal!
Now you will not have to worry about hat-head, as the animal will remain on your head at all times!
Below are a few of our favorites, but you can see all of the designs at her site.
Mariko Takahashi, a Japanese 2005 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships gymnast was kind enough to make a 10 minute video to help promote good fitness. She will instruct you to reshape your body with a little hope and exercise. She herself lost much weight. How does this relate to animals?…. Well she says you can get beautiful arms and legs…. but who really wants their legs to look like those of a poodle?!!!?!?!?!
The more you watch the more that those poodles will freak you out!!!!!!
In 2005, The U.K. held an open competition, asking aspiring artists to create art out of solely cans of red bull. Now Redbull travels the world with new can designs!!!! Several of them were animal themed and can be seen below!
There are several upcoming events, including an exhibition in Texas from July 12-25. You can visit Redbullartofcan.com for more info, as well as more designs!!!!Via: 2005 Flickr photoset
Nintendo’s DS (Dual Screen) announced that “Animal Boxing” will be released in the end of this year. Kotaku.com explains that the game is controlled by “a gameplay mechanic that has you turning around your DS so your opponents’ torsos and heads are displayed on the touchscreen”. The very odd part is that as you can see in these pictures you are battling the animal not as another animal…. but as a person! I’m sure PETA is already fighting this one…
